Review: Calitti Strong bentonite cat litter

Review: Calitti Strong bentonite cat litter

I tested and analysed Calitti Strong cat litter. Is it as good as it seems at first glance? Check out this detailed review!

Few words about Calitti brand

Calitti is a relatively new brand of cat litter. Their offer included bentonite, corn and silicate litters. You can learn more about the brand on the website: www.calitti.com

A few months ago I tested Calitti Corn litter and you can read my Review: Calitti Corn cat litter.

Cat litter tests and analysis

Calitti Strong is a caly cat litter that is available in two fragrance variants: fragrance-free and lavender, and is packed in 5 liter plastic packaging.

Price in online stores (rounded): 9 PLN (2 EUR) per 5-liter package.

Granulation

Calitti Strong’s bentonite litter is very fine. The manufacturer ensures that it should not stick to cat’s paws and spread around the apartment. My cat, Apollo, has very fluffy feet and the fine litter often has a tendency to stick to its fur. I am curious how the distribution of Calitti Strong litter will be in the tests and whether the litter will really not spread around the apartment.

Test results

As part of the tests, I looked at absorbency, clumping, smell, dusting, home-spreading and capacity properties. I put the cat litter into one litter box, which was used by one cat.

Clumping and absorbency

  • very well clumping
  • perfectly absorbs moisture

Smell

  • lavender scented it smells sweet and not too intrusive, it was quickly accepted by my cat Apollo and absorbs odors in the litter box very well.
  • odorless: it smells slightly powdery and absorbs odors in the litter box very well.

Dusting and spreading around the house

  • it does not dust when poured into the litter box, but with time a slight tarnish appears on the walls of the litter box
  • litter particles remain on the doormat in front of the doormat, but it does not spread around the apartment

Efficiency

5 liters / one cat

  • enough for 20 days

Dispose of the cat litter

My opinion about Calitti Strong

Calitti Strong clay litter clumps perfectly. Litter lumps do not disintegrate when removed from the litter box and do not stick to the bottom of the litter box. I did not notice that the litter was dusty when removing the dirt and when refilling the litter box, but with time a delicate coating appears on the walls of the litter box. Both scent variants of the litter are very good at neutralizing the smell of the litter box. The scent of lavender is acceptable to my cat, but it is worth bearing in mind that many cats do not like the scented litter.

I regret a little that the Calitti Strong packaging is plastic and not in ecological paper bags. Hopefully as the brand grows, there will be larger, paper-based packaging for all Calitti products 🙂

My cat’s opinion

For several weeks, Apollo was eager to use both fragrances of Calitti Strong litter. Thanks to the fine granulation, the litter was really delicate for Apollo’s fluffy feet. My cat used few types of clay (bentonite) litter when it was a kitten, so this kind of litter is not completely new to us;)
