First impression

I like that, apart from the name, the food also has numbers assigned to it, because it allows faster identification in online stores. How does food appear on the plate? The consistency of both feed lines is very similar – they are finely ground, moist and contain jelly.

Composition and analysis

The manufacturer states that Catz Finefood wet cat foods are complete (i.e. domestic) foods. I will check if they really should constitute a complete basis for a cat’s daily and balanced diet.

To find out the nutritional value and balance of food, I calculate the exact content of macronutrients in the feed: the percentage of protein, fats and carbohydrates relative to 100 grams of dry matter (after deducting water) based on the guidelines of the European Federation of the Pet Food Industry (FEDIAF).

I received 6 different Catz Finefood variants for testing from the Furtastic.pl store. My analysis of each of these food variants can be found in separate tabs below.

N. 03 – Poultry
N. 19 – Lamb with horse

My cat’s opinion

Apollo has tried all the flavors of the food that we got for testing, and his verdict is based on the speed of licking the saucer clean. The ranking of Catz Finefood Classic and Catz Finefood Purrrr flavors is as follows:

  1. Lamb with horse
  2. Kangaroo
  3. Lamb
  4. Poultry
  5. Mutton
  6. Pork

In my opinion

All Catz Finefood foods are 100% free from cereals, dyes and unnecessary additives. There are also no flavor enhancers, preservatives or dyes in the foods. Contains a small vegetable additive in the form of e.g. borage oil or cranberry. In feeds we have 70% meat content, of which (as the feed manufacturer informed me) at least 50% meat consists of meat and the rest consists of offal. It is worth remembering that too much offal may cause diarrhea.

The ratio of calcium to phosphorus in food is about 1.25: 1, which is a little higher than it should be for cats with kidney problems. The composition lacks a source of Omega acids, but of course you can supplement it using salmon oil.

The Purrr line contains mono-protein options, which is ideal for an elimination diet. Both lines have optimal levels of carbohydrates, proteins and fats (only in some cases the carbohydrate level is slightly above normal). High-quality feed should have 1500mg of taurine, so in this respect Catz Finefood foods also rise to the challenge.

Summary

Advantages

  • without cereals, peas, potatoes, soy protein and dairy products,
  • without genetically modified ingredients,
  • no dyes and preservatives,
  • the correct amount of taurine,
  • the product is available in sachets and two sizes of cans,
  • a large selection of flavors and various types of meat,
  • optimal levels of carbohydrates, proteins and fats.

Disadvantages

  • additional salmon oil supplementation required,
  • minimal amount of plant additives (e.g. cranberry) causes a slight increase in carbohydrate content.

I think that Catz Finefood Classic and Catz Finefood Purrrr foods that I have tested are good foods, and the amount of flavors available will make everyone find something for themselves.

FTC: I received this product for free, but this does not affect the review at all. All reviews on our blog will always reflect my honest and unbiased opinion. Or, as the case may be, my cat Apollo’s honest and unbiased opinion.
