Review: Catz Finefood Classic and Catz Finefood Purrrr wet cat food

Catz Finefood Classic and Catz Finefood Purrrr composition was tested and analysed. Are they as good as it seems at first glance? In this post you will learn my detailed analysis, test results and thoughts on Catz Finefood wet cat food.

Few words about Catz Finefood

The producer of Cats Finefood food is the German company Pets Nature. The producer is aware that more and more cat carers are aware consumers, therefore he assures that he does not test animal feed and avoids adding unnecessary fillers and preservatives. In the production of feed, it uses only high-quality raw materials and uses regional ingredients whenever possible.

Smell and consistency

I like that, apart from the name, the food also has numbers assigned to it, because it allows faster identification in online stores. How does food appear on the plate? The consistency of both feed lines is very similar – they are finely ground, moist and contain jelly.

Composition and analysis of Catz Finefood

The manufacturer states that Catz Finefood wet cat foods are complete (i.e. domestic) foods. I will check if they really should constitute a complete basis for a cat’s daily and balanced diet.

Comprehensive composition analysis

All Catz Finefood foods are 100% free from cereals, dyes and unnecessary additives. There are also no flavor enhancers, preservatives or dyes in the foods. Contains a small vegetable additive in the form of e.g. borage oil or cranberry. In feeds we have 70% meat content, of which (as the feed manufacturer informed me) at least 50% meat consists of meat and the rest consists of offal. It is worth remembering that too much offal may cause diarrhea.

The ratio of calcium to phosphorus in food is about 1.25: 1, which is a little higher than it should be for cats with kidney problems. The composition lacks a source of Omega acids, but of course you can supplement it using salmon oil.

The Purrr line contains mono-protein options, which is ideal for an elimination diet. Both lines have optimal levels of carbohydrates, proteins and fats (only in some cases the carbohydrate level is slightly above normal). High-quality feed should have 1500mg of taurine, so in this respect Catz Finefood foods also rise to the challenge.

Advantages

  • without cereals, peas, potatoes, soy protein and dairy products,
  • without genetically modified ingredients,
  • no dyes and preservatives,
  • the correct amount of taurine,
  • the product is available in sachets and two sizes of cans,
  • a large selection of flavors and various types of meat,
  • optimal levels of carbohydrates, proteins and fats.

Disadvantages

  • additional salmon oil supplementation required,
  • minimal amount of plant additives (e.g. cranberry) causes a slight increase in carbohydrate content.
