Review: Calitti Corn cat litter

Apollo’s cat mission goals to find the best and most eco-friendly cat litter. This time I tested the Calitti CORN cat litter. Does it meet all cats & human needs? You will find the answer in this review.

Few words about Calitti brand

Calitti is a relatively new brand of cat litter. Their offer included bentonite and silicate litters, but this summer, Calitti Corn clumping corn litter appeared. You can learn more about the brand on the website: www.calitti.com

Cat litter tests and analysis

Calitti Corn is an organic and biodegradable cat litter, which is produced from corn kernels without chemical additives. Courtesy of the manufacturer, I had the opportunity to test three packages of Calitti Corn litter in packs of 6 liters.

Price in online stores (rounded): 4EUR per 6-liter package

Eco-friendly

Calitti Corn is packed in paper bags, so you can reduce the amount of waste produced in your household

Granulation

Calitti Corn is the finest cat litter of all plant gravel that I have tested so far. It is very delicate and will certainly not cause problems for the cat’s paws. I was expecting it to be prone to dusting and spreading around the apartment, but the tests dispelled my fears (oops, spoiler! 😀 ).

Test results

As part of the tests, I looked at absorbency, clumping, smell, dusting, home-spreading and capacity properties. I put the cat litter into one litter box, which was used by one cat.

Clumping and absorbency

  • very well clumping
  • perfectly absorbs moisture

Smell and odor absorbency

  • nice and natural corn smell
  • very good at absorbing odors

Dusting and spreading around the house

  • no dusting when pouring into the litter
  • no spreading around the apartment (everything stays on the mat in the front of the litter box

Efficiency

6 liters of litter / one cat

  • at least for 24 days

My opinion about Calitti Corn

The great advantage of Calitti Corn is its efficiency. One package of the litter was enough for my one cat for 3.5 weeks and it is the most efficient plant litter I have used so far. I was positively surprised that the litter did not dust or spread around the apartment on Apollo’s paws, because all particles remained on the mat in front of the litter box. I liked the smell of the litter because it is gentle and natural. Only at the end of use, the smell becomes more intense, but it is not unpleasant.

Summarizing the tests: Calitti Corn cat litter received 5/5 paw-points in each test category 🙂 Amazing!

Furthermore, I am extremely pleased that this cat litter is eco-friendly:

  • the litter is biodegradable,
  • doesn’t contain chemical additives,
  • packed in ecological paper bags (instead of plastic),
  • is produced in my homeland.

Currently, Calitti Corn is sold in 6-liter bags. I hope that along with the brand development there will be available larger packages.

My cat’s opinion

With each cat litter test, I repeat the sentence like a mantra: “When it comes to cat litter, the most important opinion of the cat – it is cat litter after all!” How did my fluffy cat Apollo react to Calitti Corn litter? At the very beginning he tried to “nibble” the litter 🙂 Eating litter is a common reaction of many cats to new or nicely smelling plant litter. I wrote about some time ago in my article How to choose a cat litter
